Your Ultimate Guide to Holiday Henna
The season to show off that henna and own your creative side is here! This is my favourite time of year to really accessorize with henna, dependent on what mood I am in and what colour I really want to go for, just like a lipstick! (check out the significance of colour in our last blog) Weddings, holidays and festivals are all in the mix at this time of year, and just what we all need after last year. It has felt so good to be preparing for Festivals and getting our team ready to glam up the public in true artistic style!
However… I am still really surprised to hear how henna still has a bit of a bad rep, especially on holiday! For as long as I can remember, I would show off my henna in school, but would always hear back how bad it was for your skin and how many people would have awful skin reactions to it. I felt outnumbered in trying to justify how safe it actually was, that’s if you were using the right kind! And that was a barrier I had to break when we launched in Selfridges in 2014!
To date, there is still an article in the news every year, how a young child has got their henna done and has come up with a really bad reaction. (I have a horrible image in my head of a scorpion all blistered up on an arm, it won’t leave my memory!) And I can see why that would be enough to put anyone off henna for a lifetime!
Granted, 15 to 20 years ago this was definitely the case, and there was little or no information on henna and what chemical it was to stay away from (PPD’s!!).
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!
Thankfully now there is so much information available to us, we can question what we have been told and we can see if the brands we are using are ethical, tested and safe 🙂 Henna has really evolved since then and we have pioneered a safe henna range that is accessible to all.
We are so proud to say that we are non toxic, vegan friendly and clinically approved for the skin, so you can enjoy your holiday henna without the worry of having a really bad reaction that will scar you for life!
At Pavan Henna, we have worked so hard in building the trust of our customers. You can buy them right next to your mascara or nail polish in department stores. This is a big deal for us!! Growing up I could only get henna from our local Indian grocers, not knowing if the product will work or what was contained actual mix.
